Unions Strike SEPTA

At 12:01 a.m. today approximately 5300 members of Transport Workers Union Local 234 and United Transportation Union Local 1594 went on strike leaving almost half a million SEPTA customers without their normal means of transportation. All of SEPTA's city and suburban buses, subways and trolleys have ceased operation. SEPTA's 13 regional rail lines will continue to operate through the strike as will services for the disabled.
