Animal Cops: Philadelphia Premieres Tonight on Animal Planet
Wednesday July 16, 2008
If, like me, one of your favorite cable stations is Animal Planet and one of your favorite series Animal Cops, you'll be excited to hear that the newest city hosting the show is none other than Philadelphia. Tonight at 10:00 p.m., Animal Cops: Philadelphia premieres on Animal Planet.
Animal Cops: Philadelphia follows the work of the Pennsylvania SPCA's Humane Law Enforcement team as they investigate cases of animal cruelty; rescue sick and abused animals and fight for justice on their behalf.
The Pennsylvania SPCA's humane law enforcement officers cover an area of over 46,000 square miles from their headquarters in the in Juniata section of Philadelphia. The six officers with full police powers and six agent trainees are on call 24 hours a day seven days a week protecting the city's one and a half million pets.
The officers are backed up by a dedicated team of veterinarians and technicians at the SPCA shelter hospital. Together the team rescues over 10 000 animals each year in their mission to give hope and create happy endings out of tragic situations — from mass animal hoarding; pitbull and rooster fighting; deliberate abuse and gross neglect.
Ten episodes are being produced for the first season of the Philadelphia series. Tonight's premier will be followed by a second episode tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. Additional episodes will air during the rest of the year.
