What a Weekend!

Sunday October 26, 2008
What a weekend! The Flyers win their first two games of the season against the arch-rival New Jersey Devils. The Penn State Nitany Lions defeat Ohio State for the first time in decades in Ohio. The Eagles behind Brian Westbrook's best rushing day ever beat the Atlanta Falcons. Best of all, the Phillies win two games to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Phillies game four was as much as a cakewalk as can be had in any World Series Game. Starter Joe Blanton could not have been better. He pitched, and hit, the Phillies to a win. All Blanton has done since joining the Phillies in July was win almost every time he took the mound.

Tonight, though, was Ryan Howard's night. Two home runs and five runs batted in led the Phillies offensive attack as they crushed the Tampa Bay Rays 10-2. With a 3-1 lead and Phillies ace Cole Hamels pitching at home tomorrow night, things look good for a Phillies World Series victory and a huge parade mid-week in Philadelphia.

We'll never see a better weekend for sports here in the Philadelphia area.
