Vote Today
Tuesday November 4, 2008
Finally, it will all be over today. Here in Pennsylvania we've be inundated by TV and radio ads for both candidates for President. I'm tired of them. All they do is confuse me even more.
Yes, I'm one of the 6% or so of undecided voters. I probably won't make up my mind until I step into the voter booth sometime today. Last night, my wife was shocked to hear that I'm undecided. I've always had my mind made up way ahead of time in previous elections.
It really struck home for me last year when my vote for our local town counsel actually made a difference. The candidate I supported won by just six votes.
This year the choice was hard. I've always liked John McCain. I first heard him years ago on the Imus in the Morning program on MSNBC and really liked what he had to say. As a political moderate his maverick style really appealed to me. I supported him in 2000 against George W. Bush. McCain's proposal to tax health benefits worries me, though.
I also like Barack Obama. I don't agree with some of his more liberal tax stands, but I do feel that it's time for us to get out of Iraq and spend that $10 billion a month at home. I also feel that the country is in need of some major change. Add to that the Hawaii connection and how growing up in such a multi-racial society can only benefit the man who serves as President and I'm even more confused.
Who will I vote for? I just don't know. But, I will vote today and so should you.
The polls in Pennsylvania are open today from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All those in line at 8 p.m. will be able to vote.
In New Jersey the polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those in line at 8 p.m. will be able to vote.
I encourage you all to vote today. This is, indeed, perhaps the most important election of our time.
