Wing Bowl 17 Details Announced
Tuesday December 2, 2008
Details of 610WIP's Wing Bowl 17 have been announced by Morning Show host Angelo Cataldi. The annual competition will be held on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Wachovia Center. Doors will open at 5:00 a.m. Tickets will go on sale on Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. through Comcasttix.com.
For the first time in years, Wing Bowl 17 will be an all amateur event. Gone will be all of the professional eaters from the Major League Eating organization (formerly IFOCE) that have dominated the event over the past few years. This includes past local favorite and champion El Wingador.
As Cataldi explained in his blog on angelocataldi.com, "We are making a renewed effort to return to the roots of the event. We are giving every Philadelphia-area competitor a real chance to win Wing Bowl. In many ways, we are bringing 25 Rocky Balboas to the table for this epic showdown."
There will be two ways to win a spot in this year's competition: complete an approved eating stunt in front of the Morning Show or win one of the eight area Wing Offs.
There are also two ways to win one of the coveted spots as a Wingette: call The Morning Show and express interest in becoming a Wingette or come to one of the eight area Wing Offs.
The winner of Wing Bowl 17 will receive a 2009 Mini Clubman courtesy of Mini Of The Main Line. The Wingette of the Year will receive a 2009 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster Motorcycle courtesy of Barb`s Harley Davidson as well as a pair of one carat diamond earings from Steven Singer Jewelers and a day of beauty from 800 West Salon and Day Spa. The winner of best entourage will receive an Apple Vacation to Cancun or Punta Cana for the eater and everyone in the entourage.
