The 13th annual Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, which features performing artists from around the world, is only a week-and-a-half away. A week-and-a-half might seem like plenty of time to figure out what performances you want to see, but considering that this year's festival features 200+ shows at theaters, bars and other spaces across the city from September 4 – 19, I suggest planning – and stocking up on sleep – now.
Of course, almost every paper, radio station and blog in the city will have show suggestions for you shortly, but before you get inundated, consider doing a little research on your own. The festival's website has a page entitled Ways to Choose, split into “Practical Ways to Choose” and “Other Ways to Choose.” There you can browse shows by type – dance, comedy, theater, etc. – view shows that are kid-friendly, see all of the international artists, find out what shows have nudity (whether you want to see it or avoid it) and so on.
There are also printed guides to the festival available at locations across Philadelphia just in case you prefer a hard copy to flip through, mark up or just open to a random page and point at.
