Dan Aykroyd in Center City Today to Promote Vodka
Thursday September 10, 2009
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board sure knows how to distract me from our state's somewhat restrictive liquor laws: bring a veteran comedian into town. Dan Aykroyd, the writer and actor who was part of the original cast of Saturday Night Live and has starred in countless films since including Ghostbusters, My Girl and, of course, The Blues Brothers, will be at the Wine & Spirits store at 1218 Chestnut Street from 4 - 6 p.m. today promoting Crystal Head Vodka. The vodka, which is named (and eerily shaped) after ancient crystal skulls, was distilled through Herkimer diamonds. (The PLCB's press release states that "according to New Age belief systems" the diamonds "embody positive energy and goodwill.") Aykroyd, who has been involved in the wine and spirits industry for the last seven years through his Dan Aykroyd wines, will be signing purchased bottles of the $49.99 vodka.
