Part 3: Romantic Places Outside the City

For those who want to get totally away from the city proper, the Philadelphia suburbs offer any number of special places. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Chester County, is one of the nation's premier horticultural gardens with acres of beautiful natural settings. Throughout the spring and summer concerts and plays are offered at their outdoor theater.

Valley Forge National Historical Park in Montgomery County offers miles of biking and hiking trails through fields, pastures and woods.

Neighboring Bucks County offers perfect opportunities for day trips to such places as New Hope. A drive to locate the numerous covered bridges of Bucks County is a great experience. Nockamixon State Park is synonymous with boating. Four public launching area are provided on the lake and boats may be rented from a park concession. Couples can enjoy watching sailboats from a bench at the marina, or enjoy the equestrian, bicycle and hiking trails.

For those who really want to get away for that special weekend with someone for whom they care, there are numerous opportunities within easy driving distance of the Philadelphia area including the New Jersey Shore and lovely Cape May, the Pocono's, Lancaster County, Baltimore and its lovely inner harbor and the Delaware and Eastern Maryland shores.

So, while on first blush once might think that romance and Philadelphia do not go hand in hand. In reality, one can find romance in the Philadelphia area in many different ways.
