The nationally known cookbook authors, chefs and TV personalities will team up with Philadelphia area restaurateurs to create over 67 culinary restaurant-based events, plus cooking demonstrations, food tours and more.
The one-of-a-kind events culminate in The Culinary Market & Kitchen Showcase, March 24-26, 2006, at the Fort Washington Expo Center, where the celebrities will be on-hand doing cooking demonstrations and cookbook signings, along with more than 150 exhibitors featuring a variety of gourmet foods, cookware and kitchen furnishings.
At each dining event, the restaurant chef and guest (all of whom are cookbook authors) will collaborate on the menu and meal preparation. Once the meal is served the cookbook author interacts with restaurant guests, signs cookbooks, reveal preparation secrets and more.
Within The Restaurant Series are special events such as De Cecco Fine Foods Night in Abruzzo dinner which will take place at Davios on March 26 and feature guest author Giuliano Hazan who will team with host chef David Boyle to create a meal that draws on the culinary tradition of Abruzzo. The evening includes a performance by the Abruzesse musical group DisCanto.
Culinary Market & Kitchen Showcase
The Culinary Market & Kitchen Showcase, featuring cooking demonstrations and book signings by dozens of popular cookbook authors as well as more than 150 exhibitors offering tastings of gourmet foods and displaying cookware and kitchen furnishings, will conclude the ten-day dining festival on March 24, 25 and 26 at the Fort Washington Expo Center.- Admission is $20 ($15 for seniors, $12 for children under 12).

KitchenAid Philadelphia Toque Award
The KitchenAid Philadelphia Toque Award, given for achievement in culinary writing and accomplishments, will be presented to Nick Malgieri at City Hall on Friday, March 24. Malgieri is the author of seven critically acclaimed cookbooks including Chocolate, How to Bake, Nick Malgieris Perfect Pastry, Great Italian Desserts, Cookies Unlimited, Perfect Cakes, and Bakers Tour.Additional Events

- More than 30 chefs will present tastings of dishes inspired by the celebrity cookbook authors who theyll host at their restaurant.
- Food tours of The Reading Terminal Market and the Italian Market are planned and a popular beer tour of Philadelphia will be featured.
- Cooking demos will take place throughout the city.
- New this year is the Taste of the Avenue, a festival event introducing many of the new restaurants and specialty food retailers of South Phillys Passyunk Avenue shopping and dining destinations.
- New to the event roster this year is the first ever KitchenAid The Book and The Cook Progressive Dinner.
This unique dining experience features chef/author Aliza Green and many of the noted dining establishments of Ambler, PAs restaurant row located in the heart of the town on Butler Pike.
It includes appetizers at Bridgets at 8 West and KCs Alley followed by an entrée at the Agave Grille & Cantina, dessert at The Shanachie a meet and greet with the author at the Ambler Theater and the evening concludes with a movie. This event takes place on March 26, the final day of the Culinary Market & Kitchen Showcase which takes place only minutes away from Ambler at the Fort Washington Expo Center.
