DUCK Amphibious Vehicle

Ride the Ducks International, LLC
In recent years a number of new and unique tours begun in Philadelphia. In this series we look at some of the tours which originate in the area around the new Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Streets in Philadelphia.

Ride the Ducks

New in 2003 to Philadelphia after meeting with much success in Branson, MO, Boston, MA, Baltimore, MD, and Seattle, WA, Ride the Ducks is an entertaining and interactive adventure through downtown Philadelphia. The unique land-to-water tour takes passengers on a scenic journey through Old City, the Historic district, and South Street, before plunging into the water for a floating tour of the Delaware River along Penn’s Landing.

Ride The Ducks converts 1945 era Army DUKW’s into the comfortable, reliable, open-air vehicles that accommodate 38 passengers each. A DUKW has the automotive characteristics of a conventional 6x6 truck and is equipped with a watertight hull. The vehicle uses six driving wheels and a six-cylinder engine by land and a marine propeller and rudder by sea.

The ducks leave from Sixth and Chestnut Streets, through October. The ducks depart frequently. Exact departure times vary somewhat throughout the season based on guest demand. The 80-minute tour costs $19.95 for adults, $10.95 for children ages 3 through 12. Show an AAA card for fare discount. For more Information call 215-227-3825 or visit their website at www.phillyducks.com.
