It's lunch time and you're wondering where to go in downtown Philadelphia for a quick bite to eat. The kids want to have cheesessteaks. You'd like to have some Chinese food. Your spouse craves some raw oysters. You don't have time to waste. You have guests coming for dinner and you want to pick up some fresh meat and vegetables. You need flowers for the table. What about dessert?

There's one place where you can go to solve all of your problems, and all under one roof. The Reading Terminal Market, located at 12th and Arch Streets, is one of the city's best farmers' markets, known for its fresh meat, poultry, produce and seafood.

At the same time it is also one of the city's most popular lunch spots, featuring over 40 different restaurants and lunch stands featuring selections ranging from cheesesteaks and hoagies to gyros, Peking Duck and sushi.
From Wednesday through Saturday, Amish merchants from Lancaster County occupy the northwest corner of the Market and offer great Pennsylvania Dutch foods, especially baked goods.

You'll also find numerous specialty shops featuring books, condiments, crafts, flowers, jewelry and kitchenware.
The opening of the Pennsylvania Convention Center across the street in the 1990's has brought increased traffic to the Market especially during such popular events as the Philadelphia Boat Show, the Philadelphia Flower Show and the Philadelphia Home Show and during the ever increasing number of major conventions being booked in Philadelphia.
