The 100th Anniversary Mummers Parade is history. This year's parade marked the move from the traditional Broad Street march to Market Street where the crowds were clearly larger than in recent years.
The Quaker City String Band with its Captain Bob Shannon, Jr. made its own history. By following up on their 1999 victory with another victory this year, Quaker City becomes the last club to win in the old millennium and the first to win in the new one.
This year's theme "Circus Momus" was a big hit with the throngs who stood 4-5 deep on Market Street to watch the parade. Quaker City solidified its position as the premier string band in the world.

One of the most pleasant surprises of the parade was the excellent job by the Two Street String Band which vaulted from last year's 16th place finish to finish sixth in this their fifth year in existence.
Their theme "Two Street to Bourbon Street" was a big success and it appears that great things are ahead for this band.
Winning the Fancy Brigade Division was the Jokers. Hog Island prevailed in the Fancy Costume Division. Murray reigned supreme in the Comic Division.
