Philadelphia X Games Freedom of XpressionQ: How much are tickets and where are they being sold?
A: The ESPN X Games are FREE to the public. There are no tickets or passes necessary for entrance into the venue. Due to the incredible spectator turnout in Philadelphia last year, X Games staff recommends arriving early to the venue and securing a seat for those competitions you wish to view.

Q: Where are the X Games being held?
A: The primary venue for X Games VIII is the First Union Complex. Events will be held at the First Union Complex from August 15-19. There are also satellite venues for some of our other competitions. Downhill BMX will be held August 10-11 at Woodward Camp near State College. Skateboard Street will be held August 10 at City Hall. Wakeboarding will be held August 12-13 on the Schuylkill River, north of Boathouse Row.

Q: How can I volunteer for the X Games?
A: The 2002 X Games volunteer drive started in May and will run until the desired number of volunteers is met. For information, please feel free to check out www.xgamesvolunteers.com. If all the positions are filled, this and other notifications will be posted on that website.

Q: Where can I apply to work at the X Games?
A: Currently, ESPN X Games is not hiring.

Q: How can my business rent a booth at the X Games and how much does it cost?
A: For the first time at X Games VIII, there will be an Action Sports Expo, located inside X Games venue. Information on the Expo is available at www.bewisports.com.

Q: Can I compete in the X Games?
A: The ESPN X Games is the premier competition in action sports. The fields for the X Games are very limited and only the very best athletes in each sport are invited to the X Games. There were two EXPN Invitational contests held prior to the event, where athletes were€}e to qualify. In addition, there were several International X Games qualifiers as well. There are seven sports in X Games VIII and each one has a different qualifying process outlined by the sport organizers.

Q: Can I bring my family to the X Games?
A: Absolutely! The X Games is known as one of the most fun and exciting free events for the entire family. Along with skate and bike check there is also a stroller check. The event is non-alcoholic and the environment is family oriented with several interactive activities for children.

Q: Is there parking on site or should I take public transportation?
A: There is limited parking at the venue for the X Games since the competition sites are both inside the First Union Center and in the surrounding parking lots. Spectators are highly encouraged to take public transportation. There are SEPTA trains that run along the Broad Street (Orange) Line with an exit at Pattison Avenue for the Sports Complex. SEPTA buses #17 and the C Line also run near the First Union Complex.

Q: Is there a list of other activities that are going on during the X Games?
A: There is no formal listing of events in conjunction with the X Games. There is an X Games Host City Committee that has events listed on their website at www.philadelphiaxgames.org.

Q: Where can I find out information on hotel rates and/or packages for the X Games?
A: Though there is no official X Games hotel, the Host City Committee has a listing of hotels in the area available on their website at www.philadelphiaxgames.org. The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (www.pcvb.org) and the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (www.gophila.com) also have information on hotels and rates in Philadelphia.

Q: What superstars will be at the ESPN X Games?
A: All 300 athletes that will be competing in X Games VIII are superstars. However, skateboard icon Tony Hawk will be at the event as a commentator. Bicycle stunt legend Mat Hoffman will also be at the X Games as a competitor and sport organizer. Dave Mirra will also be competing in Bicycle Stunt. Fabiola da Silva will be competing in Aggressive In-Line Skate. Visit www.expn.com for updated lists of those athletes invited to X Games VIII.

Q: I am a member of the media and I would like information about the X Games and credentials?
A: All media information for the X Games is available on www.espneventmedia.com. The application for credentials is also available on the website; however, credentials are granted to working media only.
