The second floor reading room is a highlight of the Perelman Building with its south facing windows that offer lovely views and lots of light. Here, this fall, the public can view an exhibition of books and manuscripts donated to the Museum from 1876-1935 and have access to one of the finest collections of art books and periodicals in the region.

Paul Manship's set of intricate bronze reliefs of 1914, The Four Elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water, originally designed for the American Telephone and Telegraph Building in New York City, has been installed (for the first time since its acquisition) in the reading room of the Museum's new library.

Also on the second floor, the Wachovia Education Resource Center provides a wealth of art information on the Museum’s collections in particular and the visual arts in general to teachers as they plan their curricula, drawing upon its resources for their students in every field.

If You Go

Thanks to a $500,000 gift from Wachovia, admission to the Perelman Building is free through the end of calendar year 2007.

Normally, general admission to the Philadelphia Museum of Art is $14 (which includes admission to the Perelman Building); and general admission for the Perelman Building only will be $7 starting January 1, 2008.

The Perelman Building is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For general information, call 215-763-8100 or visit the museum's website at www.philamuseum.org
