Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm, in a new and exciting partnership with world-renowned developers The Cordish Company, has unveiled plans to develop Philly Live!, a destination retail, dining and entertainment district in the area adjacent to the Wachovia Center in South Philadelphia, PA.
A press briefing attended by your Guide was held at the Wachovia Center on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 announcing the partnership and unveiling conceptual art of what the Philly Live! may look like when development is completed at an unspecified future date.
Today's announcement marks another step in the ongoing development of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex area which has, in recent years, seen the construction of the Wachovia Center, Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, the NovaCare Center and a residential development on the site of former Navy housing near the site of the former Navy Hospital.
Ed Snider, Chairman of Comcast-Spectacor explained that it has always been his dream to create an "ultimate dining, entertainment and shopping experience" in close proximity to the Wachovia Center. In fact, a connector linking the Wachovia Spectrum and Wachovia Center was originally planned, but never built.
