Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial Summer 2007 Events

Located on the Camden Waterfront across the river from Center City Philadelphia the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial offers guided and self-guided tours daily, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the last tour departing at 5:00 p.m.

In addition to daytime tours, families and youth groups can spend the night aboard the Battleship as part of the overnight encampment program. Guests experience dinner and breakfast served from the chow line in the crew’s mess, a tour of the ship, a ride on the 4D flight simulator and the opportunity to sleep in the bunks that the crew of the USS New Jersey once did.

The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial will host a variety of events this summer.

Events Listings and Details

May 28th - Memorial Day
Wreath ceremony performed by the Haddon Township Knights of Columbus will be held on the forecastle at 11:00 a.m.. The Battleship will also participate in the White House’s National Moment of Remembrance program for a moment of silence at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day. Free to attend with tour ticket purchase.

Month of June - Celebrate Dad with a Father’s Day Baseball and Battleship Combo
A special Father’s Day package includes two self-guided Battleship Tours, two Battleship hats and two vouchers for any regular 2007 Camden River Sharks home game- all for $49. Baseball and Battleship package is available the whole month of June. Call 856-966-1652 x106 to purchase

June 9th - Battleship PGA Golf Event
See who can have the longest drive off of the longest Battleship! All guests touring the ship can hit biodegradable Ecogolf balls off the deck of the Battleship’s main deck, and receive Pro golfing tips, enter to win prizes and more. (Noon -5PM)

June 9th and 10th - Battleship New Jersey Amateur Radio Station (Ham Radio) Museum Ships Weekend
Communicate with museum ships around the world via ham radio! The Battleship’s radio communications room will be calling all museum ships in this weekend-long event, and visitors can participate. Free with any tour ticket. This event runs 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.

June 23rd - The Garden State Craft Brewers Beer Festival
Enjoy beer samples from 16 New Jersey breweries and live music from 1PM to 5PM on the deck of the ship. This event is held rain or shine under the fantail tents. Tickets are $35, and include a self-guided tour of the ship and a commemorative tasting glass. Great live music by the Cabin Dogs. Refreshments will be available for purchase. June 30th - The 5th Annual Battleship Blast
The Battleship New Jersey’s annual fundraiser includes dinner, dancing and entertainment aboard the Battleship, capped off with the best view of the spectacular fireworks display above the Delaware River. Fundraiser benefits the ship’s restoration efforts. This year’s theme is "South Pacific," reflecting the ship’s service in that area. Tickets are $150-$500. July 4th - Independence Day
Ship will be open for tours on a regular summer schedule, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Celebrate your Independence on BB-62.

July 14th - New Tour Spaces Added Three new spaces added to the tour route open to the public. Ever wonder how 2,000 sailors did laundry, got their buzz cuts or went when they got in trouble? The Battleship New Jersey debuts three newly-restored spaces never before open to the public: the Barber Shop, the Laundry Facilities and the ship’s Brig (that’s jail for you landlubbers). New spaces will be included on all ship tours.

July 19th - 22nd - WXPN’s Xponential Music Festival at Wiggins Park - Concert-goers receive special discounted tours of the Battleship New Jersey all weekend long.

August 4th - The 4th Annual Aviation Day
Military displays in Memorial Pier will include missiles, aviation memorabilia and a kid’s helicopter. Aviation Day will also feature an in-water Coast Guard demonstration (weather permitting). Free with any tour ticket.

August 19th - Military Vehicles Show
Presented by the National Guard, see a variety of military vehicles up close on the pier of the Battleship. Free with any tour ticket.

September 3rd - Labor Day
Ship will be open for tours on a regular summer schedule- 9:00 a.m, to 5:00 p.m.. Free tours to all NJ Union Members (with ID)

September 15th - Jersey Fresh Day
Come enjoy a farmer’s market on the ship’s fantail featuring seafood, fresh produce and more. Sample products grown, caught and produced in the Garden State.
