Event: Mother's Day Brunch

Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Mother's Day at the National Constitution Center's fourth annual Mother's Day Brunch. Guests will enjoy delicious menu items and mothers receive special gifts that are sure to put a smile on her face. Guests will also see Baseball As America on its final day in Philadelphia.

Program: The Legacy of 1808: The Lincoln and Douglas Debates

Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 6:30 p.m.

The National Constitution Center welcomes historian Allen Guelzo, two-time winner of the prestigious Lincoln Prize and author of Lincoln & Douglas: The Debates that Defined America, a new account honoring the 150th anniversary of the debates that made Lincoln a national figure and defined the slavery issue that would bring our country to Civil War.

Event: The Exchange: Setting the Student Agenda for 2008

Tuesday, May 20, 2008, 1:00 p.m.

This event is not open to the public, but it will be available via a live webcast

The National Constitution Center's third installment of The Exchange will connect student leaders across the country via Internet-2 videoconferencing to create a student agenda for the 2008 presidential election. The event will be hosted by SuChin Pak of MTV News.

Program: Howard Fineman: The Thirteen American Arguments

Tuesday, May 20, 2008, 6:30 p.m.

Program Admission: $12 for members, $15 for non-members, and $6 for K-12 students and teachers

Howard Fineman, Newsweek's chief political correspondent, will join the Center to discuss his new work of American history, journalism, and analysis called The Thirteen American Arguments.

Fineman comes to the Center in the thick of the primary election season to discuss politics, candidates, and how the thirteen arguments are playing out in this crucial time.

In The Thirteen American Arguments, Fineman writes that there are thirteen ongoing, essential American arguments, and that every debate we have had in the political arena from our founding to today has evolved from one of these arguments.

Event: Memorial Day

Saturday, May 24 – Monday, May 26, 2008

Event Admission: Free, museum admission not included. Some activities may require museum entry.

Celebrate Memorial Day all weekend long with activities at the National Constitution Center. Visitors will learn about the history of the holiday and how poppies came to be the symbol of the day by making their own poppy memorial wreaths. They can also see Memorials: The Way America Remembers, a special program that teaches visitors about the history of our nation's most interesting memorials and how they contribute to "popular memory."

Program: What's Your Voting Story?

Tuesday, May 27, 2008, 6:30 p.m.

To encourage young people to vote, and to share in this core American ritual, the National Constitution Center has partnered with HarperCollins and Declare Yourself to help launch a new compilation of first-time and memorable voting stories from prominent Americans called Declare Yourself: Speak. Connect. Act. Vote.

More Than 50 celebrated Americans tell you why. The conversation will ask several of these celebrity contributors and the general public alike to describe a memorable time in the voting booth, and what it meant to them, as a means of inspiring others to engage in the process.
