Founded in 1853 as Beaver College and located in western Pennsylvania, the college moved east to Jenkintown, PA in 1925. In 1928 a property in Glenside, PA was purchased and this is where the college currently resides.
Originally under the auspices of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Beaver College now maintains an historic relationship with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but is independently controlled and ecumenical in spirit.
In the summer of the year 2000, the Board of Trustees approved the decision to change the name and status of the school to Arcadia University.
Arcadia University is located in Glenside, Cheltenham Township, just 25 minutes from Center City Philadelphia on a 71-acre campus that features the national historic landmark Grey Towers Castle.
Arcadia is a coeducational, private, comprehensive university offering a wide array of liberal arts and professional programs in a personalized setting. Undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered in more than 75 majors and professional programs.
