Overview:

Villanova was founded in 1842 by the friars of the Order of St. Augustine and offers a wide variety of degree programs through four colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Villanova School of Business, the College of Engineering, and the College of Nursing.

Villanova is the oldest and largest Catholic university in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Location :

Located in a suburban community 12 miles west of Philadelphia, the picturesque 254-acre campus features more than 60 buildings, including a library with more than 800,000 volumes, an 11,800 seat stadium, state of the art academic facilities, and 26 residence halls.

Villanova University has been designated an arboretum with two one-mile self-guided walking tours on the main campus.

Academics:

Villanova awards the following degrees: Certificate, Associate, Bachelor's, Post-bachelor's certificate, Master's, Post-master's certificate, First professional, and Doctorate.

The most popular undergraduate majors are: Business, management, marketing, and related support services; Engineering; Social sciences; Communication; Journalism, and related programs; and Health professions and related clinical sciences.

Since 1983, there have been 126 finalists for Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, Gates-Cambridge, Truman, and Goldwater post-baccalaureate fellowships and scholarships. Of that number, 66 have received awards; fifty of the 66, or 75 percent, have been graduates of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Villanova is one of the nation's most wired campuses with excellent technological resources. Many students receive laptop computers as part of their tuition and these are used in classrooms designed for individual computer ports or wireless connectivity.

Athletics:

Villanova supports 22 sports (10 men's & 12 women's) affiliated with the Big East Conference at the Division I level (football is Division I-AA and competes in the Atlantic-10).

Student Body / Faculty:

Villanova's has 6,540 full-time and 668 part-time undergraduates ninety-nine percent of whom ranked in the top 30 percent of their high school classes.

Villanova has 570 full-time and 353 part-time faculty members, 90 percent of whom hold the highest degree in their field.
