New plantings are still being added to supplement the beautiful shady trees already in the Square. When completed, Once Upon a Nation will have added 153 shrubs, 34 large trees, and 27 small trees (including the rare Franklinia Tree named in Benjamin Franklin's honor) in various parts of the Square.

Several picnic areas have been established where families can enjoy the square throughout the day.
