Eating outside is of my favorite things about summer in Philadelphia. Outdoor dining and drinking opportunities are available across the city, from coffee-shop backyards to restaurant roofdecks. Below, I've compiled a list of the restaurants I've reviewed that offer the opportunity to dine under the sky (or at least under the restaurant's awning).
1. El Camino Real
El Camino Real has several picnic-bench-style tables along 2nd Street and Liberties Walk.
1040 N. 2nd St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
215-925-1110
2. Fond
This new American BYOB from former Le Bec-Fin chefs has a small number of outside tables.
1617 E. Passyunk Ave.
Philadelphia, PA 19148
215-551-5000
3. Honey's Sit-N-Eat
Honey's awning and umbrellas make it a great outdoor option even when it looks like it might rain.
800 N. 4th St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
215-925-1150
4. PYT
Not only does PYT offer several outdoor tables, but some of them are in view of the Piazza's big TV screen, making it a good place to grab a burger and beer while watching the Phillies.
1050 N. Hancock St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
215-268-7825
5. Village Whiskey
Jose Garces' burger joint has outdoor tables tucked on Sansom Street.
118 S. 20th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19103
