Search your local newspapers and free papers such as Town Talk and write down the sales that you find.
If you have a computer handy a great local resource is the classified search engine on the website of the Delaware County Times. (See photo on previous page.)
- Under the Classified section, click on Merchandise. This will bring up their search engine. Here you select the category of merchandise you're looking for (such as "garage sales" or "flea markets").
- You then enter a search area where you want to shop - for example 10 miles from (zip code) 19086.
- Select a date to search. The best day to find garage sale, tag sale and flea market listings is the Thursday before the weekend, so do your search on Thursday or Friday and select Thursday.
- When you have entered all of the information, click on "search now." What appears is a large number of pages of sales in your selected area.
- A great point about this search engine is that it covers most of the Greater Philadelphia / South Jersey area and it allows you to select specific sales from within the list and then display a list of all of your selected sales when you are finished. Just click on "View Highlighted."
- You can then print the page with all of the sales that interest you within your selected area.
