What To Do in Philadelphia in April

By Molly Gavin

Philadelphia was recently voted amongst America's top cities for culture by Travel + Leisure Magazine and with this month's line up of events it's not hard to see why. April is a full on Festival-Fest. The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts returns from March 28th to April 27th and brings over 50 acts and events to the Kimmel Center and other locations throughout the city. During April you could take a trapeze lesson above the Avenue of the Arts or visit a free interactive art Installation, like the Time Machine at the Kimmel Center. April also features the 1st Annual Cinedelphia Film Festival where you will discover lesser known Philadelphia films at unusual venues across the city. The month ends with the Philadelphia International Children's Festival at the Annenberg Center. This event is sure to capture the hearts and imaginations of the kids who attend, and probably their parent's too.

Annual Suburu Cherry Blossom Festival: This festival celebrates the flowering cherry trees in Fairmount park. The trees were given as a gift from Japan in the late 1920s. There will be events all month long from origami and calligraphy demonstrations, to drumming and dance performances and the Cherry Blossom 5k. Check the link for the full line up.
