Spring is officially here! April is chock full of wholesome family activities for Easter and Earth Day as well as Spring Break inspired celebration. Here are some of the biggest and bests events of April.

Philly Farm and Food Fest

When: April 1, 2012

Where: The Convention Center

Supporting local foods is ethically delicious. This celebration of local food features more than 100 regional farmers and artisanal food producers sampling their goods.

First Friday

When: April 6, 2012

Where: Old City and other locations city-wide

Gallery’s around the city open their doors and often offer drinks and entertainment. Olde city is the epicenter, but Chinatown, Fishtown and West Philly are worth looking into as well.

Easter Egg Hunt at the Awbury Arboretum

When: April 7, 2012

Where: Awbury Arboretum

Hunt eggs and play games at this free family event on the gorgeous grounds of the Awbury Arboretum.

Easter Promenade

When: April 8, 2012

Where: Headhouse Square

Don bunny ears and enjoy music, animals and art off South Street. PAWS presents a doggie parade. There will be bunnies and an Easter attire contest.

Philly Zombie Crawl

When: April 8, 2012

Where: South Street starting at the TLA

Celebrate the holiest of Christian Holidays by dressing up as the undead and following “Zombie Jesus” from bar to bar. Face paint is provided.

First Person Arts Story Slam

When: April 9th

Where: World Café Live

Tell a five-minute personal story, or sit in quiet judgment of others. This month’s theme, Identity Crisis, is full of juicy, hilarious potential.

UPenn Spring Fling

When: April 13-14, 2012

Where: University of Pennsylvania

One of the biggest college festivals on the East Coast. Ivy Leaguers and friends let loose before finals with live music and food. Dutch DJ Tiesto headlines this years festivities.

Science Carnival

When: April 21st

Where: The Parkway

The fun filled science of the Franklin Institute spills out onto the parkway with over 100 interactive exhibitions and the opportunity to meet scientists, engineers and mathematicians (nerd alert). The carnival is part of a 10-day Science Festival featuring various events around the city.
