Harcum College was opened in 1915 by Edith and Octavius Marvin Harcum as the Harcum Post Graduate School with three students and five pianos.
Today, Harcum College provides an educational foundation and environment for learning that promotes academic, professional, and personal growth of its students. It is a two-year, private, fully accredited, residential and commuter college committed to the education of women and now men.
Harcum College is located about 12 miles west of Center City, Philadelphia in the Main Line community of Bryn Mawr.
Degree programs are divided into four distinct centers - Center for Allied Health, Center for Business and Professional Studies, Center for Legal Studies and Center for Liberal Studies and Education.
Allied Health programs prepare students for careers in the healthcare industry as well as for transfer to a 4-year college.
The Business programs provide excellence in business education by offering an appropriate blend of the fundamental principles and practices of business.
Therefore, Harcum College's Center for Legal Studies offers programs in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, and Legal Studies.
Students enrolled in the Liberal Studies degree prepare for transfer into a 4-year college. The may also select a concentration in Psychology or Business or a minor in Women Studies. Psychology can also be taken as an associate degree.
