In addressing its theme of the three constitutional crises which Lincoln faced as President during the Civil War, (Secession, Slavery and Civil Liberties), the exhibition is organized into seven main exhibit areas: The Impending Crisis, Meet Mr. Lincoln, Presidential Oath of Office, Crisis of Secession, Crisis of Slavery, Crisis of Civil Liberties and Lincoln's Legacy: The Gettysburg Address In His Time and Ours.

Through the exhibits media and interactive elements, you are able to hear Lincoln being sworn in as President (as recorded by actor Sam Waterston as Lincoln), view Civil War battles and Lincoln portraits through a replicated 1860's box camera, play a genuine 1862 board game called "The Secession Game," vote in the election of 1864, and much more.

Take note of the portraits of Lincoln from the time following his first election through just months prior to his death. You will see how a 52 year old man at his election grew to look like a man in his 70's when he assassinated in 1865 at age 56. Thus does the Presidency age a man, especially during times of great national upheaval and war.
