Leaving the National Constitution Center, walk south back towards the Independence Visitor Center. Proceed across Market Street and head towards the strange looking metal and glass building in the middle of the block between 5th and 6th Streets. This is the old home of the Liberty Bell which is now used as a security screening area.

Before you reach security, place all metal objects into your purse or camera bag. You will need to remove any coat you're wearing as well as any belt. The line at security can be long, so leave yourself about 45 minutes to an hour before your scheduled tour of Independence Hall. This will give you ample time to clear security, visit the Liberty Bell Center and then proceed to Independence Hall.

The new $12.6 million Liberty Bell Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Inside there are video presentations and exhibits about the Liberty Bell, focusing on its origins and its modern day role as an international icon of freedom.

Taped presentations about the history of the Liberty Bell are offered in a dozen languages for the convenience of foreign visitors. The Liberty Bell itself is displayed in a magnificent glass chamber with Independence Hall in the background.
