The old Zipperhead building © Meg Favreau

Although South Street runs all the way from University City to Front Street, when people talk about "South Street" in Philadelphia, they're usually referring to the easternmost 10 blocks of it, a buzzing area filled with stores, tattoo parlors, art and restaurants. This walking tour will show you some highlights of the eastern end of South Street and its surrounding area.

Pictured above is the building where Zipperhead, a punk and goth store, used to be located. It has since moved around the corner to 528 South 4th Street and changed its name to Crash Bang Boom, but the store's zipper and ants remain on the original building.
